I’m Sarah Shea

I’m a licensed NYS physical therapist with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The Sage Colleges.  

I have a national Pilates certification (NCPT) and I’m a licensed Gyrotonic® and GYROKINESIS® trainer with over decade of experience teaching exercise throughout the Hudson Valley, Capital Region and abroad.

I have published an article in The Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies on Pilates and stroke

I’m a food lover with serious wanderlust! When I’m not eating, moving my body or traveling, I love to get lost in a good book.

I felt like I needed a change. I was always doing cardio, circuits, Bootcamp etc. I felt muscle cramps, stiffness and pain. Sarah introduced me to Pilates. She made it challenging enough without it being overwhelmingly new.

I’m not very flexible and Pilates is WAY out of my comfort zone because it was completely new to me as a form of fitness. I didn’t want to feel like a failure and not be able to do the moves. Sarah’s instruction and suggestions for modification were great. She’s very upbeat and motivating.

After working with Sarah I felt better range of motion, less muscle pain and a stronger core. I’ve realized the importance of movement and flexibility as I get older. Sarah has helped me with that. During her classes, I could feel the strength and stretch of my muscles.

Sarah is an amazing instructor. You will never get lost in a movement as she will not let you flounder. If you can’t do a move she’s right there with a modification for you. Her cueing and instruction are spot on. I’ve worked out for many years with incredible trainers, Sarah is definitely one of them. She took me (a stranger to Pilates) and made me a believer. When the class is over you’ll feel rejuvenated.

I first began taking Pilates classes with Sarah in 2012. A few years later, when I had a shoulder injury, I started doing private sessions with Sarah. I’ve never looked back!
